A few weeks ago, I decided to surprise my Mom with a box full of pink goodies. I went with pink because she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and she is fighting it like a champ! I had a blast finding goodies but I also wanted to make a few things, one of which was a pink crocheted hat. Check out the rest of the box in my Pink Box Project post here. I have only ever dabbled in crocheted projects and had not yet completed anything more than a scarf. I decided it was time to try something new and set out to find a pattern that was on par with my modest abilities. At Michaels I found the “Loops & Threads Cozy Wool Hat Trick” book. It contains several designs for hats that are either knitted or crocheted. If you are ever looking for hat patterns, this book is great and it was only a few dollars. After I chose my pattern (#9 “To The Brim”), I picked out my yarn and made sure I had the correct size crochet hook for my yarn. I chose a pink “#5, Bulky” yarn and used a size M hook. The pattern called for two different colors of yarn but I just used one and ignored where the pattern told me to change colors. My hat was made from one skein of yarn but I bought two just to be on the safe side. The pattern turned out great! There was only one section where I ran into some confusion and had to phone a friend with my questions. Shout-Out: Thanks, Dawn!!! Overall though, I would definitely recommend this pattern to anyone wanting to try a new crochet project. I would also recommend this for any beginner, as long as you go slow and take your time it will turn out great! Have you ever thought about trying to crochet? What is your favorite crochet project you've done? |

AuthorTo put it mildly, I LOVE crafting! The only problem is that I don't fancy just one specific type of craft, I love it all. With this in mind, I've decided to keep a running chronicle of projects and, hopefully, inspire someone else along the way. Categories
